HYUI and YUKI of the group NEXZ shared their deep inner thoughts while looking back on their childhood dreams and current growth. In the "[NEX2U] EP.09 HYUI x YUKI" video released on the official YouTube channel on the 23rd, the two reminisced about their 10-year-old selves from the perspective of 20-year-old adults.
HYUI shared an anecdote about how he boldly declared, "I will become an idol," in front of his parents and friends during a school event at the age of 10. HYUI stated, "Back then, my friends didn't believe me, saying things like 'That's impossible' or 'What are you talking about?' but that reaction actually became my motivation." He added, "I made it to where I am today with the determination to show everyone the process and the results of my hard work," creating a touching moment.
On the other hand, YUKI was dreaming of a completely different path 10 years ago. YUKI said, "At that time, my dream was to be a creator who makes games," and caused laughter by looking back at his 10-year-old records he brought to the dormitory in Korea, saying, "It's so funny to look at them now." The fateful narrative of two boys who once had different dreams now standing on the same stage under the name 'NEXZ' stands out.
The two also expressed the struggles of being the 'maknae line' (youngest members) of the team. While they are grateful that the older members treat them dearly, they showed a mature mindset by saying, "We are deep-thinking adults now," and "We want to show a cool side of ourselves on stage," expressing their desire to be recognized as artists.
Fans who watched the video shared enthusiastic support, with comments such as, "I'm so proud of HYUI for keeping his 10-year-old promise," and "I'm glad YUKI didn't become a game developer; thanks to that, we could meet him as NEXZ."
