
JTBC announced that the new drama "Human X Gumiho" is scheduled to air in the first half of 2027. This work is a fantasy romantic comedy about a gumiho who enchants humans and a human who attracts supernatural beings meeting at the crossroads of fate.
The main cast includes Jun Ji-hyun, Ji Chang-wook, Cha Ju-young, Kang Yoo-seok, Kim Seol-hyun, and Lee Jae-in. Jun Ji-hyun plays Gu Ja-hong, a two-thousand-year-old gumiho who enchants people and brings scandals wherever she goes. Ji Chang-wook portrays Choi Seok, a skilled shaman and director of the Oseong Museum, who has a special ability to see the harsh realities of the world. Cha Ju-young plays Ji Woo-kyung, the only person who knows Gu Ja-hong's true identity, and Kang Yoo-seok takes on the role of Go Tae-seung, Choi Seok's longtime friend and deputy director of the Oseong Museum. Kim Seol-hyun appears as Yeon, a memory yokai, and Lee Jae-in plays Bang Sang, an old yokai who appears in his twenties.
Jun Ji-hyun shared, "With such excellent directors, writers, staff, and actors gathered, we will all work with one heart and one mind to present a great performance to the viewers." Ji Chang-wook said, "This work highlights not only the chemistry between the human and the gumiho but also the witty interactions among the characters. The script was captivating as the story progressed, and the narrative between Choi Seok and Ja-hong was truly interesting. We are enjoying the filming, so please show us lots of interest and support." Kim Seol-hyun and Lee Jae-in also expressed their feelings and expectations about joining the project.
"Human X Gumiho" will be available to viewers worldwide through JTBC broadcast and the online streaming service (OTT) Amazon Prime Video. The specific broadcast date of the drama has not yet been decided.
Meanwhile, this is not the first fantasy romantic comedy based on the gumiho theme. SBS's "Today, I Am a Human" also dealt with the love story of an MZ generation gumiho and attracted attention with its warm ending. That work started with a 3.7% viewership rating for the first episode, dropped to 2.2%, and then steadily maintained ratings in the 3% range, reaching a peak of 4.2%.
