On KBS2's 'Immortal Songs,' Jo Hye-ryun shed tears while recalling memories with the late Jeon Yoo-sung. In the broadcast, Jo Hye-ryun competed against the Gag Concert 'Chatflix' team and chose Im Hee-sook's song "My One and Only Person Has Left." Jo Hye-ryun explained that she selected this song as a tribute to Jeon Yoo-sung, saying, "I really liked Yoo-sung oppa a lot."
Jo Hye-ryun mentioned that she received a call from Jeon Yoo-sung five days before his passing. She said, "He said, 'I'm going to die soon.' Hearing that voice surprised me. Because I was busy, I didn't realize how much oppa was waiting for me and how hard it was for him." She also explained that four days before he passed away, she visited him and said, "Thank you for making us laugh," to which Jeon Yoo-sung replied, "I'm grateful because I have you all. Even if I leave, keep making people laugh hard."
Kim Shin-young also shared her mentor-mentee relationship with Jeon Yoo-sung, saying, "He always said, 'Shin-young, enjoy life. You have to live happily.' When I said, 'Professor, I feel like I'm past my prime,' he said, 'Congratulations. If you pass one prime and reach another, you become a treasure.'"
While singing on stage, Jo Hye-ryun expressed her heartfelt feelings: "Yoo-sung oppa, how is the place where you are now? I miss you so much. Your warm heart and love for people, and your laughter filled with that love, I can no longer hear your voice, but you still live on in many people's memories. I miss you. Shin-young also really misses oppa. And I love you. When we meet later in Chan-guk, I'll say, 'My precious, Gollum' to you."
Lee Hwi-jae spoke about Jeon Yoo-sung, saying, "Whenever I heard him speak, he seemed ahead of his time. He made juniors feel comfortable, entertained them, and put them at ease. That's why juniors couldn't help but love him." Oh Man-seok added an anecdote from 2003 when he was working in theater, recalling how Jeon Yoo-sung took juniors to watch performances and poured drinks for actors, helping promote the shows.
Jeon Yoo-sung passed away at the age of 76 on September 25 of last year at Jeonbuk National University Hospital due to worsening symptoms of pleurisy.
