Lim Chang-jung revealed that there was opposition from his in-laws during the marriage process with his wife, who is 18 years younger.

Lim Chang-jung appeared on tvN STORY's "What's the Point of Leaving It Behind" and talked about his first meeting and marriage with his wife. He disclosed that there is an 18-year age difference between them and shared an anecdote about how his wife visited the store he ran as a customer and asked him to buy beer. Lim Chang-jung said, "She was so beautiful when I first saw her," and added, "I immediately felt, 'I'm going to marry this person.'"

He also revealed that he decided to get married after dating for one year. However, he said the marriage process was not smooth, mentioning that his wife was 24 years old at the time and that his mother-in-law threatened to file a complaint with the broadcasting station. Lim Chang-jung added, "She even said she would come after me." He then described the atmosphere at the time, saying, "The situation itself was not easy back then."
