KBS 1TV's 'Morning Yard' underwent a revamp on March 30, and in the April 7 broadcast, the TOP5 of TV Chosun's 'Miss Trot 4'—Lee Sona, Heo Chanmi, Hong Sungyun, Gil Ryeowon, and Yoon Taehwa—appeared. They appeared in the newly established Tuesday segment 'With the Famous Sir,' sharing behind-the-scenes stories of the competition, experiences from their unknown days, and sincere stories off-camera.
On the broadcast, Heo Chanmi talked about how her daily life changed after appearing on 'Miss Trot 4,' saying, "I'm gradually realizing it, and the home meals have changed. The variety of side dishes I usually eat has increased, and the table is overflowing. The meat side dishes have changed from pork to beef. I feel more energized, and my singing seems to have improved. The apartment residents even hung a banner at the entrance. My fan club is also growing a lot. I check every day how many people join. I checked again today."
Heo Chanmi also shared the story of appearing on 'Miss Trot 4' together with her mother. She said, "My mom secretly submitted the first round of application documents without telling me, and after passing, she went to the production team's audition. She told me she was going to the production team's audition, but after the audition, she didn't tell me even though she must have received a call. I know my mom's singing skills, so I thought maybe she passed, but since there was no age limit, I wondered, 'Maybe she didn't pass because of her age?' Then, the day before the competition, during the opening recording, I was wearing a mask and was behind the scenes. I was the only one who saw my mom. As soon as I saw her, tears poured out. There was a lot to prepare for the competition. My mom is 67 years old, and while I had help from a manager and others, thinking about her traveling back and forth alone was very hard for me. This was my fourth audition, and I said I would quit singing if I didn't make it this time. When I said it was the last time, my mom said she wanted to help somehow and applied."
Regarding her parents' reaction after making it to the 'Miss Trot 4' finals, Heo Chanmi said, "From my parents' perspective, there was some disappointment and sadness, but it didn't last long. They hugged me, saying they were very proud and that I had done wonderfully just to get this far." She continued, "I started singing because it made me very happy, but after going through ups and downs and falling repeatedly, my family, who believed in me and waited by my side for 20 years, became my support. Now, I think I sing for my family."
Meanwhile, 'Morning Yard' announced plans to revitalize the program by emphasizing 'viewers, fun, and digital' as core values, introducing specialized formats for each day of the week, and inviting star-level guests. Jung Taeho, formerly of KBS 2TV's 'Gag Concert,' joined as a panelist in the 'With the Famous Sir' segment, engaging in various conversations with the guests. The production team stated, "Through this revamp, we will do our best to reestablish 'Morning Yard' as a national program that embraces all generations."
