Singer Hwang Chi-yeol brought great laughter to fans with his extraordinary interpretation of a newly coined term during a live broadcast.
After successfully wrapping up his stage at the 'Jinhae Cherry Blossom Music Festival' on the 4th, Hwang Chi-yeol turned on an Instagram Live broadcast in his car and spent time communicating with his fans.
Starting the broadcast with a joke, "I look like a floating ghost because only my face is showing" due to the dark lighting inside the car, he tilted his head at a question left by a fan while reading the comments: "Oppa, do you do Ojicom?"
Having no idea what the newly coined term 'Ojicom' meant, Hwang Chi-yeol began to deduce the meaning of the word with a serious expression. He initially made up a bizarre acronym, "I Only (O-ro-ji) want to play on the Computer (Com-pu-ter) Right now (Ji-geum)," and soon came up with a creative wrong answer, "Ah! You have to tear up squid (O-jing-eo) and eat it with kombucha (Kom-bu-cha)," making the watching fans burst into laughter.
Later, upon learning through fans' comments that 'Ojicom' is a portmanteau of 'Ojisan' (middle-aged man) and 'Complex,' meaning 'the preference of the younger generation being attracted to middle-aged men,' Hwang Chi-yeol paused for a moment. However, he soon slyly built an iron wall by saying, "Well, then that has nothing to do with me," drawing laughter once again.
Fans showed enthusiastic responses to Hwang Chi-yeol, who radiated quirky charm through the unexpected slang quiz, leaving comments such as, "Squid with kombucha, his sense is crazy," "It's so funny how he pretends not to know and draws a line," and "It's nice because his way of communicating is so friendly."
