Super Junior member Ryeowook recently shared his feelings directly regarding the safety accident that occurred at a concert.
On the 7th, Ryeowook posted a lengthy message on his personal SNS explaining the incident to fans. He said, "I wanted to explain what happened this time to ELF (the fandom name)." He then mentioned the self-blame, regret, and shock he felt immediately after the accident, stating, "As soon as the accident happened, I felt a lot of self-blame for the friends who were injured in that situation. I thought the fans got hurt because of me, and wondered if it was because I got too close to the fans. Could I have somehow held on tighter at the moment they were falling? I was temporarily stunned by so much regret and shock."
Ryeowook also described his state at the time of the accident, saying, "I'm not someone who thinks quickly, so I looked really foolish when I was momentarily stunned by the shock. I apologize if that looked bad." He said he spoke with the injured fans at the hospital and added, "Even while in pain, they worried about me and cried saying they were more sorry, and I don't think I will ever forget those moments."
Ryeowook emphasized, "Even though I have been active for over 20 years, this was the first time such an accident happened right in front of me, so honestly, it was very hard emotionally," and promised to pay more attention to fans' safety in the future. He said, "Since I have to keep meeting our ELFs, I will be a Super Junior who is more careful and attentive to safety."
This accident occurred on the last day of the 'Super Show 10' encore concert held on the 5th at KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul. Near the end of the performance, while greeting fans up close, Ryeowook approached the audience and reached out his hand, causing fans to crowd forward and the safety fence to collapse, resulting in three fans falling down. Ryeowook's shocked reaction was captured at the scene.
