Ju Ji-hoon is passionately portraying the role of prosecutor Bang Tae-seop in ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama "Climax." This work depicts a survival drama unfolding at the pinnacle of power, entangled with various worlds such as politics, business, and the entertainment industry. Ju Ji-hoon convincingly embodies prosecutor Bang Tae-seop, who is racing toward the top, earning praise from viewers.
In a recent interview, Ju Ji-hoon revealed that the script for "Climax" was originally rated "19+" but was changed to "15+," resulting in some adjustments to certain expressions. He explained, "While expressions and wording could be changed, the setting itself could not be altered," and mentioned that there were many discussions with the production team. Regarding the bathroom kiss scene, he said, "Aside from the skinship, there was only that one kiss scene, but seeing it on TV, its impact felt greater than expected."
When asked about the level of intensity in the work and its reflection of reality, Ju Ji-hoon said he did not specifically ask the director about parts reminiscent of real incidents. He stated, "Looking at the script objectively, it clearly shows that the world is neither fair nor just." He also mentioned, "It is definitely a bad act for the character in the drama to know about the Park Jae-sang incident and still cover it up."
Regarding whether he felt any burden since the background involves politics and business, he responded, "A drama is just a drama," and added that as long as the production team was okay with it, he, as an actor, was also fine. About his chemistry with Ha Ji-won, Oh Jung-se, Cha Joo-young, and others, he said he communicated with each actor and pondered the essence of their characters. Especially about Ha Ji-won, he described her as "a senior who carefully observes and approaches cautiously."
He also expressed an apology to actor Yoon Kyung-ho, who appeared with him on the web variety show "Pinge-go." Ju Ji-hoon said, "Kyung-ho hyung talks a lot. Since we all knew the stories on set, we often interrupted him. I realized he must have been quite upset. I want to apologize to him." Regarding why he went on the bike trip alone despite planning to go together on "Pinge-go," he explained, "I went to clear my mind, and I wasn't confident I could endure the audio."
Ju Ji-hoon explained that the reason for his prolific work is that he participates extensively in the pre-production stage and anticipates risks to minimize damage. For his next project, he chose "The Second Marriage Queen," based on a webtoon, and said he was attracted by the collaboration with Disney and the thorough pre-production process. "Climax" airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM.
