PLAVE to release fourth mini album 'Caligo Part 2' on April 13... Relaunching SF warrior concept

PLAVE has announced the release of their fourth mini-album, "Caligo Part 2," on the 13th. This album continues the story from the title track "Dash" of the third mini-album "Caligo Part 1," released last March, highlighting an expanded universe and a futuristic warrior concept.

The released concept images show the members wearing battle suits, evoking the presence of characters from blockbuster-level sci-fi movies. Each member's individuality is emphasized through variations, expressing both the team's unity and the unique charm of each member. The prologue video features a ruined city, a confrontation with the mysterious entity Caligo, and member Yejoon's crisis and awakening process, along with symbolic elements such as glitch phenomena, unknown spaces, and glowing ores.

Musically, the pre-released track "Heung Heung Heung" on the 3rd showcased a lively and lovable atmosphere, different from the existing concept, revealing another charm of PLAVE. This song highlights a fresh side of the team through its upbeat sound.

PLAVE is a five-member virtual boy group featuring 2D webtoon-style characters, combining singing and performance while maintaining the appeal of traditional K-pop idols and implementing a new format. This differentiated identity has led to achievements: with "Caligo Part 1," they became the first virtual artist to achieve million-seller status within a week of release, and the title track "Dash" simultaneously topped the Melon Top 100 and entered the Billboard Global 200 chart. In their third year since debut, they sold out all seats for two days at Gocheok Sky Dome, attracting 37,000 spectators, and their second single "Plppuu" also sold 1.09 million copies within a week of release.

Pop culture critic Haeje Geun said, "PLAVE is meaningful not only for its technical freshness but also for evoking emotional immersion through music and narrative," adding, "If 'Caligo Part 2' leads to success, it will once again set the standard for virtual idols to compete seriously with existing K-pop idols."
