Global Citizen announced through its official website that it will hold 'Global Citizen Live' at the Tokyo International Forum on June 18. The group &TEAM (&TEAM) is scheduled to headline the event. Japanese-American artist AI and Yuki Chiba will also participate, with actor Chris Peppler serving as the main MC.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. Global Citizen, founded in 2008, is an international civic movement organization aimed at eradicating extreme poverty. Over the years, world-renowned artists such as Beyoncé, Coldplay, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Mariah Carey, Billie Eilish, and Red Hot Chili Peppers have performed on this stage. BTS performed 'Permission to Dance' and 'Butter' in front of the national treasure Sungnyemun Gate at the 2021 'Global Citizen Live,' and Jungkook participated as a headliner at the 2023 'Global Citizen Festival.'
&TEAM will take the stage as the headliner of 'Global Citizen Live,' held for the first time in Japan this year. The group name signifies nine different members connecting the world as one team. Through their agency YX Labels, &TEAM expressed, "We are happy to join this meaningful stage supporting children's education and health," adding, "The power to connect diverse worlds through music is a value &TEAM cherishes deeply, so it is even more meaningful and an honor to perform on this stage."
Meanwhile, &TEAM is set to release their third Japanese mini-album 'We on Fire' on the 21st, with the music video for the title track and all songs being released on the 13th.
