
Singer G-Dragon is reported to have received settlement payments amounting to approximately 65 billion KRW from the agency Galaxy Corporation last year.
Money Today Broadcasting cited the audit report disclosed by Galaxy Corporation on the 6th, reporting on the 8th that the commission fees paid on a separate basis in 2023 reached 71.4 billion KRW. In the entertainment industry, commission fees are known to mostly consist of settlement payments made to artists. Galaxy Corporation's commission fees were between 800 million and 2.5 billion KRW before signing G-Dragon, but increased more than 31 times last year.
G-Dragon released the third solo full-length album "Webermensch" last year, selling over 600,000 copies on the first day. Following that, G-Dragon held a world tour with 39 shows in 17 cities, attracting more than 820,000 attendees. In addition, G-Dragon contributed to the company's revenue through various activities such as music sales, merchandise, advertisements, and personal business ventures.
Thanks to G-Dragon's success, Galaxy Corporation's performance also rose significantly. Last year, consolidated sales amounted to 298.9 billion KRW and operating profit reached 12.5 billion KRW, marking a return to profitability. The agency explained that G-Dragon's world tour success demonstrated overwhelming influence in the global IP market.
Galaxy Corporation has recently focused on diversifying its portfolio by signing various artists such as Song Kang-ho, Kim Jong-kook, and SHINee's Taemin. G-Dragon is scheduled to perform with Big Bang members at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States on the 12th and 19th.
