Kim Gun-woo, a member of the project boy group Alphadrive One, has temporarily suspended his activities due to controversy over inappropriate remarks.

On the 8th, the agency Wake One announced Kim Gun-woo's suspension through an official statement. Wake One stated, "We should support our artists to focus on their activities in a stable environment and manage them to ensure they have the basic attitudes and standards required as artists, but we failed to fully fulfill this responsibility." The agency added, "Kim Gun-woo is deeply reflecting on this matter. After discussions with us, he has decided to take time for self-reflection." Accordingly, Kim Gun-woo will not participate in the upcoming activities and fan concerts, and Alphadrive One will continue activities as a seven-member group for the time being. However, broadcasts and some content that were filmed and produced before the suspension may be released as scheduled.

The controversy reportedly occurred during content filming before their debut. Wake One explained, "At the time, Kim Gun-woo expressed dissatisfaction with inappropriate language without realizing that his microphone was on," adding that the remarks were not directed at any specific person as criticism or personal attacks but were spoken in a monologue form. The agency apologized again to the staff who may have felt uncomfortable and sincerely apologized to the fans for causing concern. Right after the incident, Kim Gun-woo apologized to the production team, and the agency judged the matter to have been resolved through mutual communication.

Meanwhile, various suspicions and allegations related to Kim Gun-woo's attitude have continued online, but Wake One emphasized, "Other than this matter, the various allegations currently circulating online are not true. We ask that the indiscriminate spread of unverified information be refrained from." The agency explained that the delay in issuing a statement was due to the extended process of verifying the facts of each claim.

In a handwritten apology, Kim Gun-woo said, "I caused concern to many people and showed a disappointing side due to my immature words and actions. I apologize to everyone who was hurt by this incident," and added, "From now on, I will act with responsibility at every moment and deeply reflect and be cautious to ensure that such an incident does not happen again."

Wake One stated that they will review their internal and external communication methods and artist management system based on this incident and will supplement related standards and management systems. They also pledged to strengthen education and support for artists to prevent similar cases from recurring. Alphadrive One is an eight-member group selected through Mnet's survival program Boys 2 Planet last year and officially debuted on January 12.
