Director Jang Hang-jun, who broke box office records with the film "A Man Living with the King," recently appeared on the YouTube channel "Vivotv" in the "Cinema Mountain Special" segment, sharing various episodes.
Director Jang expressed his disbelief as "A Man Living with the King" ranked third in the all-time box office, saying, "It feels too unrealistic, and the worst thing I imagined happened, but it feels like a dream." He added, "It doesn't really sink in, but people keep reaching out to me, and I wish they would stop contacting me. When I wake up, I have about 300 messages, and I spend half the day replying to them." Song Eun-yi, CEO of his agency Siso Entertainment, also shared the current atmosphere, saying, "The phones for contacting Director Jang Hang-jun are ringing off the hook. Managers never cared where the director went before, but now it's an emergency situation." Director Jang added, "Honestly, I didn't expect it to get this far. I just wanted to go outside and chew gum casually, but now it's hard to even go out."
Meanwhile, Song Eun-yi mentioned, "I think the small seed of Hang-jun's prime was not 'Cinema Mountain' but rather this," and Director Jang agreed, saying, "If it weren't for that time, neither 'Vivo' today nor I would exist." When Song asked, "I heard you declared a reward trip with the original 'Cinema Mountain' production team. Is that true?" Director Jang feigned ignorance. Then, when the production team revealed a recording of Director Jang saying, "I promised to go to Southeast Asia with the original 'Cinema Mountain' members. I'll cover all the expenses," he responded with, "AI is scary~ AI is scary," maintaining his denial. He then joked, "Do you think the person in this recording was in a normal state when making this statement?" and laughed. He also joked, "We need to negotiate. How far should we consider Southeast Asia? Isn't the east side of Jeju Island part of Southeast Asia?"
Previously, Director Jang had promised to undergo plastic surgery, change his name, and naturalize if "A Man Living with the King" surpassed 10 million viewers, but he later canceled this pledge.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated computer network, the cumulative audience for "A Man Living with the King" is 16,222,006. It is about 40,000 viewers behind "Extreme Job" (16,266,641), making it likely to rank second in the all-time box office this weekend.
