Singer Seo In-young revealed her stepmother, who has been with her for 30 years, through her YouTube channel. She visited her family home and introduced her stepmother, stating that her stepmother raised her and her younger sister herself. Seo In-young said, "My father was busy working and didn't come home. So it was just me and my stepmother," adding, "My stepmother raised me and my younger sister alone. She even cooked all our meals."

Seo In-young also explained why her stepmother did not have biological children. She said, "My stepmother didn't have her own children," and "Because she was human, she worried that if she had her own children, she might end up treating us differently, so she chose not to." She continued, "Honestly, I used to think, 'Isn't that just natural?' but as I got older, I realized that was a very harsh way of thinking. I only recently matured."

Seo In-young revealed that her biological mother passed away from a stroke in 2021, and she went through a difficult time. She said, "It was hard for the past four years since my biological mother, who gave birth to me, passed away. At that time, my stepmother really wanted to come to the funeral. She was very sad. That's how much she cared."

She also expressed her deep affection for her stepmother. Seo In-young said, "The word 'stepmother' feels sad. It's not actually a bad thing, but there seems to be a strange atmosphere around the term 'stepmother.'" She added, "I want to eliminate that. I grew up well, and she really made an effort."

Seo In-young debuted in 2002 as a member of the group Jewelry and also worked as a solo singer. She married a businessman in 2023 but divorced after one year, and recently has been communicating with fans through her personal YouTube channel.
