
BTS has been nominated in three categories, including 'Artist of the Year,' at the American Music Awards.
According to the AMA website and the awards announcement on the 14th (local time), BTS was nominated in three categories: 'Artist of the Year,' 'Best Male K-pop Artist,' and 'Song of the Summer.' In the 'Artist of the Year' category, BTS will compete against a total of nine pop stars, including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga. BTS was the first Korean artist to win the 'Artist of the Year' award in 2021.
In the 'Song of the Summer' category, BTS's "SWIM" was nominated less than a month after its release. This category also includes Harry Styles' "American Girls," Taylor Swift's "Elizabeth Taylor," and the remix version of "Dracula," a collaboration between Black Pink Jennie and Tame Impala.
Last month, BTS's fifth studio album ARIRANG and its title track "SWIM" ranked number one on the US Billboard main album chart, Billboard 200, for three consecutive weeks, and "SWIM" has maintained a top 5 position on the Hot 100 chart for three weeks.
In the 'Best Male K-pop Artist' category, nominees include BTS, ATEEZ, Enhypen, Stray Kids, and Tomorrow X Together (TXT). In the 'Best Female K-pop Artist' category, aespa, Black Pink, Ailee, LE SSERAFIM, and TWICE are competing.
Additionally, HYBE-Geffen Records' global girl group CATS EYE was nominated in three categories: 'New Artist of the Year,' 'Breakthrough Pop Artist,' and 'Best Music Video.' The Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters was nominated for 'Best Soundtrack,' and the girl group Huntrix's song "Golden" from the film was nominated for 'Best Pop Song.'
The American Music Awards will be held on May 25 (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA, and will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
