Park Chang-geun on Broadcast Editing: "Viewers Must Speak Up If Their Right to Enjoy Content Is Violated"

Singer Park Chang-geun recently expressed regret regarding the editing practices of a broadcast program he appeared on, asserting that the rights of viewers are just as important as the production team's right to edit. He garnered significant attention by raising his voice specifically against excessive editing that ignores the musical context。

During the recent YouTube Live broadcast Gnee Note episode 14, Park shared his feedback after monitoring the recently concluded survival show The Winners. Regarding certain segments where comments or songs were spliced together differently from their original intent, he stated, "It was disappointing that the context of the story differed from what was intended"。

He expressed deep concern, particularly regarding the editing of musical performances. Park revealed that his agency's representative (manager) directly contacted the PD to convey the sentiment that "while editing broadcast comments is an inherent right, drastic editing that disregards the characteristics of a song is inappropriate"。

Park remarked, "There is music that can be more beautiful and meaningful precisely because it is stripped back," and expressed his hope that "broadcasting stations should not treat music so lightly and should adopt a more serious attitude toward musical depth". He pointed out that simply painting a screen with flashy colors is not what makes good music。

Furthermore, he reminded fans that they are viewers before they are his fans, encouraging them by saying, "When the right to properly enjoy content is infringed upon, one must be able to speak up confidently from a viewer's perspective". He added a sharp critique that instead of being buried in viewership ratings and creating cookie-cutter shows, stations should listen to what viewers truly want to see。

Fans who watched the video responded with support, saying, "I entirely agree with the singer's principled remarks," "I hope there are more programs that recognize the sincerity of music," and "It feels refreshing that he spoke up for the disappointments in editing"。

Meanwhile, through this broadcast, Park Chang-geun engaged in deep musical discussions with fans and promised to deliver an even more authentic performance at his upcoming Incheon concert。
