Rapper Woo Won-jae recently appeared on the YouTube channel 'DinDin is DinDin' and shared his experience with money management.
Woo Won-jae revealed that after encountering a large sum of money early in his career, he initially lacked knowledge about financial management and entrusted all asset management to his mother. He said, "When I debuted, I was very young, and since a lot of money was coming in, at first I thought, 'Hey Gray, I want to go see a Maserati tomorrow.'" Regarding this, Gray advised him, "Hey, don't ever buy a Maserati right now. Save your money." Woo Won-jae explained that following Gray's firm advice, he left money management to his mother.
Later, as Woo Won-jae turned 31, he set a goal to become independent and took over all financial management from his mother. He said, "I took everything from my mother," sharing the change in his situation. When DinDin asked about his mother's asset management style, Woo Won-jae said, "I was really touched when I received the bankbook from my mother. The point where I thought my mother was amazing was when I looked at it and saw that she had been consistently donating. But it was under my name. There were so many donations I didn't know about." He also added, "The money had been steadily accumulating. Honestly, since I was making money, I told my mother to use it, but she didn't spend a single penny."
At the moment he received the bankbook, his mother looked happy and proud, and Woo Won-jae said he briefed her on his future savings plans. He said his mother felt reassured.
Woo Won-jae revealed that he started managing his money himself from mid-January and said, "I've become very frugal. I thought, 'Was I really spending this much money?' I spent a lot on unnecessary things," reflecting on his experience.
