V recently revealed the process of reflecting on himself through acting, music, and books in an interview with Rolling Stone.
In this interview, V expressed his desire to challenge various genres and roles in both acting and music without being confined to a single genre. He said, "Acting and music are the same mindset. I want to try various genres of music and different roles in acting without sticking to just one genre." Along with his thoughts on acting, he revealed his direction to experience diverse characters.
He also mentioned his military service period. V said, "I took time to look back on myself and reorganize what kind of person I ultimately want to become. I worked out hard, read a lot of books, and listened to a lot of music, which became an opportunity to regain control of my body and mind." He read various works, including books by Keigo Higashino and Han Kang, and stated, "I empathized with myself while reading a philosophy book called Eleven Steps."
These reading experiences also influenced his music work. V explained about his solo album Layover, "I needed an experience to look back once on the moments I walked through BTS V. Layover is an album that describes me." Regarding the Arirang album, he added, "This album is the color and genre I wanted and pursued. I was sincere in working on it, and it is an album filled with genuine affection."
