Jang Dong-yoon releases feature directorial debut 'Nuruk'... Family and growth captured through makgeolli

Jang Dong-yoon announced a new challenge as a director by presenting his first feature film directorial work, "Nuruk."

"Nuruk" depicts the story of Daseul (played by Kim Seung-yoon), the daughter of a brewery, who sets out to find nuruk to restore the taste of makgeolli after it changes. Centered around the unique theme of makgeolli, the film incorporates the warmth of a rural village and a setting that crosses the boundaries between reality and fantasy. Despite being a high school student, Daseul enjoys drinking makgeolli and experiences inner changes and conflicts with her family and friends after losing the nuruk.

The work focuses more on the emotions and dilemmas of the characters rather than the progression of events. Through the various reactions of Daseul, her family, and those around her, conflicts unfold, and a PD representing an outsider's perspective appears, adding depth to the story. The film questions the meaning of trust through the relationship between Daseul and makgeolli and conveys the message that one should not easily judge the trust of others.

Through this work, Jang Dong-yoon expanded his domain from actor to director.
