The group NewJeans has shown signs of officially resuming activities after a long hiatus. On the 21st, NewJeans's official SNS posted a message celebrating member Hyein's 19th birthday for the first time in about six months, drawing fans' attention. The post included several photos of Hyein, highlighting her long straight hair and distinct facial features.
On the same day, Hyein personally visited a birthday cafe in Seoul to meet with fans. At the venue, she was seen wiping away tears while listening to fans sing the birthday song, blowing out the candles on the cake, and taking photos at a photo booth. She also continued direct communication by signing autographs and taking selfies with fans. Fans shared news of Hyein's visit through SNS.
Recently, Hani, Haerin, and Hyein were seen in Copenhagen, Denmark, with staff members, as reported on the Chinese SNS Weibo. NewJeans's agency, ADOR, confirmed, "It is true that the members visited Copenhagen with staff." Photos were also captured locally showing the members and staff carrying filming equipment.
The reactivation of NewJeans's official SNS channel about six months after celebrating the third anniversary of 'Bernie's Day' last October, along with news of the members' overseas schedules, has increased interest in their comeback. NewJeans's last official album was their Japanese debut single 'Supernatural,' released in June 2024. Since news of new releases had been cut off for about one year and ten months due to disputes with ADOR, this recent development holds significant meaning for the fandom.
ADOR won the lawsuit last October confirming the validity of the exclusive contracts against the five members of NewJeans, and according to the court ruling, Haerin, Hyein, and Hani have confirmed their return. Minji's return is still under discussion, and Daniel has been notified of contract termination and has left the team. An industry insider stated, "In a major entertainment agency system, even posting a single photo on an official channel is inevitably a thoroughly calculated strategy."
