Rookie boy group GENUS officially debuted on the 27th with the release of their first single, "SUGAR RUSH."

GENUS is an abbreviation of "Generation Us," meaning to create a new era together with their fans. The team consists of five members: leader and main dancer Chanyong, Seoha with a pure comic visual, performer Chaehun who majored in practical dance, main vocalist Jaeyoung, and the youngest member Yuan. All members are tall, over 178 cm, and two of them come from boy group audition programs.

Since January, before their official debut, they have been performing long-term small theater shows in Japan, gaining stage experience and building a fandom. In this process, they chose a strategy to expand the team's scale by directly communicating with fans at performances rather than seeking one-time publicity. The "Hooligan" challenge content released before their debut gained attention after BTS Jungkook reposted it, surpassing 1 million views.

The debut song "SUGAR RUSH" is characterized by a bright and refreshing energy and a lively atmosphere, featuring a catchy melody and vibrant mood. The performance music video released together showcased their stage presence based on teamwork and dynamic energy.

GENUS is scheduled to start long-term performances again in Japan from April 29. Afterwards, they plan to expand communication with fans through various channels such as domestic broadcast appearances and online and offline content. Their agency Just Focus stated, "'SUGAR RUSH' is a single that shows the current state of GENUS and serves as a milestone containing their future direction."
