Ryeowook donates 100 million won for Children's Day to support children in vulnerable groups

Super Junior member Ryeowook donated 100 million won to support vulnerable children in Korea ahead of Children's Day.

On the 4th, the international development cooperation NGO G Foundation announced that Ryeowook donated a total of 100 million won, with 50 million won each to support children at risk of food insecurity and children in orphanages in Korea in celebration of Children's Day. G Foundation explained that the donation will be used to provide food kits and meal support for children facing food insecurity, and integrated support including education, medical care, and cultural experiences for children in orphanages.

Park Choong-kwan, CEO of G Foundation, said, "We deeply thank Ryeowook for practicing meaningful sharing while caring about the present and future of children," and added, "The donated funds will be used transparently to create real change for children in need."

Ryeowook participates in various volunteer activities every month with family and acquaintances through SM Entertainment's social contribution brand 'SMile'. G Foundation is conducting various projects domestically and internationally to support low-income children and youth with hygiene products, medical care, education, and livelihood assistance.

Meanwhile, last month, Ryeowook showed signs of self-blame despite not being at fault for some fans getting injured during a fall accident that occurred during the Super Junior concert performance. He stated on social media about the accident, "As soon as the accident happened, I felt a lot of guilt toward the friends who got hurt in that situation. I thought it was because of me that the fans got injured, and I wondered, 'Did I get too close to the fans?' and 'Could I have caught them somehow at the moment of the fall?' I was temporarily overwhelmed with regret and shock, and my thought process stopped for a while."

Ryeowook debuted with Super Junior in 2005 and began his solo career in 2016 with the mini-album 'The Little Prince'. Starting in July, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his solo debut, he will meet fans in four Asian cities—Seoul, Bangkok, Macau, and Taipei—through the '2026 RYEOWOOK'S AGIT CONCERT: DIVE TO BLUE'.
