Kang Mina appeared as Im Nari, an 18-year-old girl who grew up in a wealthy environment but is thirsty for love and attention under her dual-income parents in "Girigo." Im Nari is a character who attracts attention among her peers with her dazzling appearance comparable to an idol, and she sometimes causes misunderstandings with her honest and blunt expression.
In the work, Kang Mina naturally and plainly expressed various emotions such as the innocence of wanting to look pretty in front of the boy she has a crush on, jealousy and inferiority when her friend takes away attention, and anxiety. She also showed extreme confusion and fear by performing scenes where she climbs on a car bonnet with a fierce expression and breaks a window, or is possessed by a ghost, switching between two characters. She received praise for perfectly handling complex emotional lines, such as crying while laughing, shedding tears sorrowfully, and suddenly overpowering others with a fierce expression.
"Girigo" tells the story of high school students who are suddenly foretold to die due to the curse of the application "Girigo," which grants wishes, and struggle to escape the curse. The cast includes Kang Mina, Jeon So-young, Baek Sun-ho, Hyun Woo-seok, and Lee Hyo-je, and it has been streaming on Netflix since April 24.
Kang Mina debuted as a member of the group I.O.I in 2016 and is currently active as an actress.
