Jaewon Kim shared his thoughts on acting alongside Go-eun Kim in the TVING original series "Yumi's Cells 3."
On the morning of the 7th, Jaewon Kim met with domestic reporters at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, to talk about "Yumi's Cells 3." In this work, Jaewon Kim played the male lead Shin Sun-rok in season 3, delivering a passionate performance, and it was his second time working with Go-eun Kim after the Netflix series "Eun-jung and Sang-yeon."
Regarding his chemistry with Go-eun Kim, Jaewon Kim said, "I was very happy and constantly learning with Go-eun noona. I am a rookie actor without much experience, but both the director and senior Go-eun are veterans, so even though I lacked a lot, they guided me a lot on set. Communicating over the shoulder and seeing her steadying me was reassuring and a continuous learning experience. Every moment I went to the set felt like a dream, and I was grateful to her."
About the fact that Go-eun Kim is actually 10 years older than Jaewon Kim and the age difference between Yumi and Sun-rok in the drama, Jaewon Kim said, "Honestly, I never thought about the age difference. I participated in this work as the character Sun-rok, and the original work also portrays him as a younger man. Neither the actual age difference nor the age difference in the drama was ever an obstacle to acting. I focused a lot on how to act as Sun-rok. I didn't care about the age difference at all." He added, "In reality, I prefer someone who suits me well rather than someone older or younger."
He also said about Go-eun Kim, "Watching the senior's acting up close, I often felt all the emotions being conveyed. As a rookie, I was able to fully exist as the character because when I looked into Yumi's eyes facing me, I could feel everything, and the power of silence without words was there. Looking into Yumi's eyes, Sun-rok could judge what he had to do. There was a lot to learn in that regard. I think acting is truly precious when genuine moments come out. The tone, rhythm, and trembling that this character would have in this situation are very important. I thought I was lacking in those parts. Watching the senior, I felt a lot and thought, 'I want to become an actor like this.'"
"Yumi's Cells 3" is a cell-stimulating empathy romance drama based on the popular webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of Yumi, who has become a star writer, falling in love once again due to an unexpected person entering her daily life.
