Baek Chan, a former mixed ballad group 8eight, will take a new first step as a "vocalist," not a rapper. Baek Chan will release his first full-length album "BAEKCHAN 01" at noon on Wednesday.
Baek Chan, who debuted in 2007 as
a mixed group 8eight and worked with various hit songs such as "No
Heart" and "Good Night My Love," will unveil his first
full-length album with his name in about 13 years. In particular, unlike his position as a
rapper at the time of his eight-eight career, he is expected to reveal his
capabilities as a "vocalist" that he has never shown before.
The album will feature a total of
eight songs produced by Baek Chan himself. It will be filled with experienced
vocals that freely cross various genres, including soul, R&B, pop, deep
house and ballads. Baek Chan, who produced the entire song himself, will
clearly show his side as an all-round player, from songwriting, composition and
arrangement to mixing.
The album's title track "About Time" is a song co-wrote with Joo-hee, a member of "8eight," with impressive lyrics expressing past love in time.
Especially, "I can't turn
back time, love is the same. It contains everyday and delicate conversational
expressions that would not have been completed without reasons such as "A
long longing remains after short happiness" and "As the hands of the
clock were erased yesterday and today were used again, love must be
erased." Among them, Baek Chan's vocals were so sweet that he forgot he
was a rapper.
Also, the seventh track
"When I'm Shabby" is a song about Baek Chan's autobiographical story.
The song, which starts with the song, "I'm watching what I don't have, I
can't see what I have," is said to be a song about the background of
overcoming pain after suffering from a difficult time when he became shabby
himself. It is said that the song was created with a high level of perfection
that will touch listeners.
Baek Chan's first full-length
album 'BAEKCHAN 01' is a well-made album that fully incorporates his beautiful
artistic sensibility and musical prowess, which is expected to be a new
discovery in the Korean music scene.
Meanwhile, Baek Chan made his debut as a three-member mixed ballad group 8eight and has been loved for a long time, releasing numerous hit songs such as "No Heart," "Goodbye My Love," "Block Your Lips" and "Lost Your Love."
