Cruise's 'Top Gun: Maverick' retakes the top spot at the weekend box office.
Director Chan-wook Park's "Decision to Leave" broke the break-even
point (BEP).
According
to the Film Promotion Committee's integrated computer network for cinema
tickets on the 18th, 'Top Gun: Maverick' mobilized 70,2343 moviegoers last
weekend (15-17) to reclaim the weekend crown given to 'Thor 4' last week. The
cumulative number of spectators is 5,73,848 people, which is about to hit the 6
million mark. 'Top Gun: Maverick' is an aerial action blockbuster that tells
the story of the best pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) who returns as an instructor,
and new team members are brought in a life-and-death mission.
'Thor:
Love and Thunder' (referred to as 'Thor 4'), ranked first in its opening
weekend (June 6), dropped one place to second. 'Thor 4' drew 398,440 viewers
last weekend, recording a cumulative audience of 2,493,844.
Director
Park Chan-wook's 'Decision to Leave' was beaten by 'Top Gun: Maverick' and
'Thor 4' in the box office index, but it raised 207,274 moviegoers over the
weekend, noting a cumulative audience of 1,247,197 people, returned. This is a
number that exceeds the breakeven threshold of 1.2 million people because of
the "decision to break up", attracting attention. In addition, the
Japanese anime 'Famous Detective Conan: The Halloween Bride' (148,556 people)
and 'Crime City 2' (35,052 people), have surpassed the cumulative audience figure
of 12.65 million.
On
the other hand, the movie Together for Life on the 13th also entered the list
of 'Top 10' at the weekend box office. The movie 'Alvis' (35,052) depicts a
biography of legendary pop star Alvis Presley, an action film starring Hyuk Jang,
'The Killer: A Child Who Can Die' (27,405), and a thriller. 'The Twisted House'
starring Seo Young-hee (14,642 people)), etc.
