Kim Ki-duk has been officially invited to the 79th Venice Film Festival.
On
the 26th (local time), the 79th Venice Film Festival announced that director
Kim Ki-duk's 'Call of God' will be screened in the non-competitive category.
In
addition, the festival side explained, "Director Ki-duk Kim is the
director who left a meaningful mark with the Venice Film Festival".
Director
Kim Ki-duk is the only Korean director to win main prizes at the Cannes Film
Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival, and the Venice International
Film Festival, known as the world's top three film festivals. At the Venice
Film Festival, director Kim Ki-duk received the Silver Lion (Best Director)
award for "Empty House" in 2004 and the Golden Lion for
"Pieta" in 2012.
Director
Kim Ki-duk passed away in December 2020 from complications from Corona 19 while
in Latvia, Europe.
The
79th Venice Film Festival will be held on Lido Island, Venice, Italy from
August 31 (local time) to September 10. The film opens with 'White Noise'
(directed by Noah Baumbach), a Netflix original starring Greta Gerwig and Adam
Driver.
