[The Fact ㅣ Reporter Lee Han-lim ] Netflix
drama 'Suriname' is showing strong growth at the box office.
According
to FlixPatrol, an OTT rating website on the 14th (local time), 'Suriname'
(directed by Jong-bin Yoon) ranked third in the Netflix TV show category. This
is the result of a three-rank increase from 6th place a day earlier.
Including
Korea, Bahamas, Hong Kong, Kenya, Morocco, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam
topped the box office charts in 8 countries. It is also proving its popularity
in the US, the headquarters of Netflix, climbing to 5th place after 7th place a
day earlier.
After
'Suriname' was first released on Netflix on the 9th, it climbed to the top 10
in 11 countries but failed to break into the global top 10. 'Squid Game',
directed by Lee Jung-jae and Hwang Dong-hyeok, who won Emmy Awards for Best
Actor and Best Director, climbed to No. 4 globally shortly after when released
and took over the world after only 4 days. Rumor has it won't be possible.
However,
'Suriname' seems to be lifting the box office charts after its release. Actors
such as Ha Jung-woo, Hwang Jung-min, Park Hae-soo, Jo Woo-jin, Yoo Yeon-seok,
and others, and director Yoon Jong-bin's directing ability were well, so this is
a global trend.
Meanwhile,
'Suriname' depicts the story of a civilian framed for a drug godfather who has
taken over the South American country of Suriname and accepts a secret mission
from the National Intelligence Service.
In reality,
however, the government of Surinam controversially stated. Freedom of speech is
important, but Suriname has lost its image in dramas and has not engaged in such
actions. (Drug trafficking, etc.).
