"Disney Content Showcase 2022 - APAC (Asia Pacific Region)" by The Walt Disney Company was held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore on the 1st (local time) and as part of the event, a meeting press conference to launch new Disney+ original series "Connect" held. Director Takashi Miike and actors Jung Hae-in, Go Kyung-pyo and Kim Hye-joon attended the event.
'Connect' is the chase after Dong-soo (Jeong Hae-in), a new human with an immortal body, was kidnapped by an organ trafficking organization and lost an eye.
In particular, the work was previously invited to participate in the On Screen category of the 27th Busan International Film Festival and received worldwide attention right before its premiere.
In the play, Jung Hae-in plays Dong-soo, a new race, 'Connect', Go Kyung-pyo plays Jin-seop, a serial killer who happens to have 'Connect' eyes and Kim Hye-joon plays Lee Rang, a maid who suddenly appears in front of a troubled Dong-soo.
If there's something special about 'Connect', it's that the psychopath appearing in the play is rather chubby unlike other works.
Director Takashi Miike said, "Psychopaths are usually cold-blooded and emotionless, so they usually think of a slim, not fat body. But Go Kyung-pyo chose a cute, slightly fat body."
He also conveyed a friendly atmosphere at the set, saying, "Every morning, there's time to pinch Go Kyung-pyo's neck to see how much weight he's gained."
By the way, director Miike Takashi said he loves Go Kyung-pyo. He praised him as "a lovely and precious actor", saying, "I had a good time laughing and chatting, but by the time the movie started, Go Kyung-pyo was finished. Completely immersed in the character."
However, in reality, this character was created because Go Kyung-pyo failed to lose weight. In response, Go Kyung-pyo brought laughter when saying, "I feel sorry for the director for not being able to lose weight."
'Connect' will be released on Disney+ on the 7th.
