On
June 6, Billboard, an American music media outlet, released the album "50
Best Albums of 2022: Stap List". Blackpink's "Born Pink" peaked
at No. 42 and became the only K-pop album released this year.
Billboard
explained, "As Blackpink's debut album has achieved great success
worldwide, we expect to give the second album a new look. However, thanks to
the combination of YG Entertainment, producer Teddy and Blackpink, we
anticipated success."
Billboard explained, "Born Pink has taken the number one spot on the Billboard
Albums chart. This helped Blackpink establish itself as a perfect superstar.
The album was not a success because of its simple addictiveness or balance
between English and Korean. They commented, "Blackpink's diverse combination
of classic, dance, vocal as well as unique musical colors also brings
attraction to the audience."
Blackpink
is receiving attention not only from Billboard but also from many leading
foreign media. The group earned 25th place in Rolling Stone's Top 100 Best
Albums of the Year and earned the title of "Highest Streaming Girl Group
of the Year". The first 6 girl groups worldwide were voted "Artist of
the Year 2022" by American magazine Time, raising the status of Kpop.
Blackpink is conducting the K-pop girl group's largest world tour with nearly 1.5 million participants. Blackpink sold out 14 shows in 7 North American cities and met a total of 200,000 spectators, thereby moving to Europe and successfully holding 10 shows in 7 cities. In addition, from 2023, the group is expected to expand their interactions with fans to Asia and Oceania.
