[The Fact | Reporter Park Ji-yoon] BTS' RM will be revealing for the first time at the Busan International Film Festival a record of the making of his second solo album and an exploration of Kim Nam-joon.
The 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) announced at a press conference held on the 3rd that "RM's documentary film 'RM: Right People, Wrong Place' (Director Lee Seok-jun) was selected as an official invitation to the Open Cinema section." This is a work that contains the making of RM's second solo album 'Right Place, Wrong Person' released in May.
In response, Big Hit Music, BTS's agency, posted a special poster commemorating the invitation to the Busan International Film Festival on BTS' official SNS. The photo shows RM, lost in thought, walking down the street, capturing attention.
Along with this, Big Hit Music said, "It is meaningful to present RM's documentary film for the first time at the Busan International Film Festival," and "I hope that the message RM wanted to convey through his second solo album will be conveyed to everyone, and I hope that the audience will have a moment to think while watching the film."
Beds are science. 'RM: Right People, Wrong Place' contains RM's eight-month production process and his honest interviews to complete his second solo album. It is also a record of his constant self-exploration as he struggles between being the leader of BTS, a solo artist, and Kim Nam-joon as a human being. The title implies that the moment the line between 'Right' and 'Wrong' blurs, the journey to find your true self and the right place begins.
The profound message and the sensual visuals are also points of interest. Director Lee Seok-jun, who participated in the production of the music video for 'Arson', the double title track of BTS J-Hope's solo album 'Jack In The Box', took the megaphone and completed a screen that resembles an art film.
Above all, this is the first time that a K-pop documentary film has been officially invited to the Busan International Film Festival's Open Cinema section. Open Cinema is a section that showcases new works that have both artistic and popular appeal among the film festival invitations, as well as works that have attracted international attention. 'RM: Right People, Wrong Place' will be screened at the Busan Cinema Center Outdoor Theater and is expected to meet many audiences.
RM received favorable reviews for building a more expanded musical world through 'Right Place, Wrong Person'. The music video for the title song 'LOST!' won the 'Craft: Cinematography' category at the '2024 Berlin Commercial Awards'. He is currently serving in the military and is scheduled to be discharged on June 10, 2025.
