[The Fact | Reporter Byung-geun] Virtual idol group PLAVE has started a lightning-fast race with an impressive record from their new album.
At 6 p.m. on February 3, PLAVE officially released their third mini album Caligo Pt.1 on digital music platforms. On the day of its release, the title track ‘Dash’ rose to No. 1 on the Top 100 chart of Melon—the music platform with the largest number of users in Korea. As of 9 a.m. on February 4, the song was still in 4th place, only behind IVE, G-Dragon, and aespa.
Notably, ‘Caligo Pt.1’ reached 1 million streams on Melon in just 2 hours and 20 minutes after its release, becoming the second fastest album to reach 1 million streams in the history of the platform. The fastest record belongs to SEVENTEEN’s mini album vol.10 FML, released in April 2023, with a time of 2 hours and 10 minutes. With a difference of only 10 minutes, PLAVE’s new album has entered the second place of all time.
In addition, the live broadcast celebrating the group’s comeback on the official YouTube channel on the day of its release attracted up to 43,000 concurrent viewers, proving PLAVE’s strong appeal.
PLAVE made an impression in August last year when they released the digital single ‘Pump Up The Volume!’. On the first day, the group won the top spot on both Melon's Hot 100 and Top 100 charts, and also won the trophy on the music program broadcast on the central station. In particular, the total number of streams of all PLAVE's songs exceeded 1 billion, making the group the artist to achieve the title of "Billion Streams Club" on Melon in the shortest time in history.
The album 'Caligo Pt.1' marks a new chapter in PLAVE's worldview, following the previous series 'ASTERUM'. The album includes 5 songs of various genres such as rock, hip-hop, R&B, ballad and city pop, with the participation of the members in composing, writing lyrics, choreographing and producing.
