Boy group Stray Kids has claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, the main album chart in the United States, with their new album DO IT. This marks Stray Kids' eighth consecutive entry at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Billboard announced on its official website on the 1st that Stray Kids' DO IT ranked first on the latest chart.
The Billboard 200 ranks popular albums in the U.S. based on physical album sales, streaming performance, and digital song download sales. DO IT surpassed pop star Taylor Swift's The Life Of A Showgirl, which had held the No. 1 position for seven consecutive weeks, to become the top album. DO IT is Stray Kids' eighth album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Since debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2022 with ODDINARY, Stray Kids has topped the chart with every album released, including MAXIDENT, 5-STAR, 樂-STAR, ATE, 合·HOP, and KARMA. In September, they became the first artist in the 69-year history of the chart to debut at No. 1 with their fourth full-length album KARMA. They have since continued to top the chart with seven consecutive albums, extending their streak to eight with DO IT.
Debuting in 2018, Stray Kids has established itself as a leading K-pop idol group through self-produced music and performances. This year, they successfully completed their world tour domiATE with 56 shows across 35 regions worldwide. In October, they held an encore concert for the tour at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, marking their first stadium performance in Korea seven years after debut.
Stray Kids is recognized as the group with the most No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 since the 2000s. DO IT is the first album released as part of the new series SKZ IT TAPE. The album includes a total of five tracks, featuring double title tracks DO IT and Fresh Fun. All songs were written and produced by the group's in-house production team 3RACHA members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han.
Bang Chan described DO IT as "an album to showcase the diversity of Stray Kids' music and new challenges." He said, "Some songs were worked on a long time ago, and others were created during the world tour. We tried to include genres and messages that we can newly present in each track."
On the day of the Billboard chart announcement for DO IT, Stray Kids expressed their gratitude to their fandom STAY through their agency JYP Entertainment. They said, "We can't believe it. We want to thank STAY, who always gives us great strength, supports our choices, and serves as a compass for the path ahead." They added, "We will continue to quietly walk our own path."
