Monsta X Juheon, solo comeback after 2 years and 8 months... New leap with 'Gwang'

Monsta X Juheon made a comeback on the 5th with his second mini album, "Kwang (Insanity)." This album is his new release after 2 years and 8 months since his solo debut album and first mini album, "Light," which was released in May 2023. The album expands the concept of "Kwang" from the meaning of light (光) to madness (狂). The agency stated that Juheon chose the theme of the second album through his contemplation on "how everyone can stay strong and shine brightly in a dark world." Juheon successfully broadened the "light worldview" by encompassing the double meaning of "Kwang," which means "to shine by going crazy."

Although Juheon has had a three-year hiatus as a solo artist, this album shows growth beyond that. The deep and solid skills that were not outwardly visible are fully expressed through Juheon's worldview. The album contains seven tracks, from the first track "Kwang" to the seventh track "No Brain No Pain," each with high completeness and individuality. Juheon revealed his true value as a representative third-generation K-pop idol and solo artist.

The album starts powerfully with the title track "Kwang," and "Fear" captures the inner self fighting fear while longing for truth and freedom. The buzzing sound in "Wing Wing" is interpreted as the sound of the passion burning inside Juheon. The title track "Sting (Feat. Muhammad Ali)" intricately embodies the image of the "bee," which symbolizes Juheon. Over a pop-hip-hop-based beat, charismatic performance and powerful rap harmonize to showcase Juheon's intense personality.

At the beginning of the song, the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali's famous quote, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee," appears. This expression encapsulates the narrative of the song and the entire album, revealing Juheon's identity as an artist and his artistic instincts. Juheon explained, "I wanted to give positive energy to myself and many others through the confidence of flying toward a dream and hitting the exact target, and the energy to precisely achieve what I aim for."

This album includes a total of seven tracks, such as "Push," featuring IVE's Ray, "Bite," "Until My Head Touches the Sky," featuring Tiger JK, and "No Brain No Pain." Juheon participated in writing, composing, and overall producing of all the songs, demonstrating his capabilities as a producer. Juheon's second mini album is a work that combines his 10 years of experience as the main rapper and producer of Monsta X with his unique style as a solo artist, JuHoney.

Juheon said, "I put my passion into every album, but I think this album especially suits 'passion' well and resembles the 'Juheon' that has existed so far the most," adding, "I want to immerse myself and go crazy in every moment. I believe that only then can I shine brighter than anyone else."

Fans' enthusiasm for Juheon's solo album translated into global success. This album ranked second on the iTunes K-pop Top Albums chart in Canada and the Netherlands and appeared on charts in 11 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, France, Australia, Thailand, Austria, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. It entered the top album charts in a total of 15 countries and regions, demonstrating its strong presence.

The title track "Sting" also appeared on the iTunes K-pop Top Songs charts in eight countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Mexico, Indonesia, Brazil, Thailand, and Malaysia. Monsta X, which made a full-group comeback last year to celebrate its 10th anniversary, is opening 2026 with a bang through Juheon's solo album and stepping into its second act in earnest.

Monsta X will hold the "2026 Monsta X World Tour 'The X: Nexus'" for three days from the 30th to February 1st at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, kicking off a new world tour. This tour will be an important opportunity to strengthen communication with Monsta X's global fans.
