Actor Kwon Sang-woo revealed the reason why he shed tears at his wedding. In a video released on the YouTube channel 'Study King Genius Hong Jin-kyung' on the 8th, Kwon Sang-woo and his wife Son Tae-young candidly shared behind-the-scenes stories and emotions before and after their marriage. The video title is "True Love Worth 15 Billion Won Kwon Sang-woo♥Son Tae-young, First Reveal Only to Hong Jin-kyung!"
The two recalled that they went on a trip to Australia just two months after meeting. Kwon Sang-woo said, "We were caught in Australia like a honeymoon trip. It was during that trip that we truly got to know each other." He revealed that he made his first proposal in Australia, suggesting their relationship be based on marriage by putting a necklace on her while in a hot air balloon.
After the marriage news, the couple went through difficult times. Son Tae-young confessed, "When the news came out in the newspapers and malicious comments poured in, it was really hard. That was a big ordeal." Kwon Sang-woo mentioned there was a misunderstanding about why he cried at the wedding. He explained, "I cried a lot at the wedding, but people said I was crying forcibly."
Kwon Sang-woo revealed the real reason for his tears. He said, "I still get choked up. Memories of my older brother, my mother, and my childhood flashed through my mind all at once." He added, "My father passed away early, and I remembered the times when we moved around pulling a handcart. The moment I saw my brother and mother sitting at the wedding, those emotions burst out." He explained that the tears were not because he disliked the marriage, but because of overlapping feelings about his family and past life.
Son Tae-young also spoke about the rumors of pregnancy before marriage. She said, "In a situation where people said it was a forced marriage, I was afraid that adding the story of a child would distort our love." She continued, "So I had no choice but to hide the fact that I was pregnant." The couple emphasized that despite numerous misunderstandings and public scrutiny surrounding their marriage, they protected each other and chose to be a couple.
Kwon Sang-woo shared the reason he decided to get married, saying, "I wanted to have a baby quickly. One day, I suddenly got a call saying she was pregnant." He added, "I immediately told my mother, 'Tae-young is pregnant. I think we need to get married.'" He also mentioned, "I got married when I was 33 and popular."
Son Tae-young recalled that she felt like she was going to collapse from stress at the time. She honestly said, "I hated the term 'speeding' (premarital pregnancy), so I said it wasn't pregnancy back then." She added, "Because of that, I think I got even more criticism."
The video also showed footage of the couple's affectionate moments. Kwon Sang-woo explained why he was attracted to Son Tae-young, saying, "In the past, even when I met other lovers, I always felt anxious when we were apart. But after meeting Son Tae-young, I didn't have that anxiety." He added, "That made me feel very comfortable."
Hong Jin-kyung empathized with their relationship, saying, "Son Tae-young is a good person. She seems stable, kind, and comfortable." Kwon Sang-woo and Son Tae-young got married in September 2008 and have one son and one daughter. Kwon Sang-woo will appear in the movie 'Heartman,' which opens on the 14th.
