Kim Gap-soo, after passionately playing the villain in 'Pro Bono,' says "Thankful to work with great actors"

Actor Kim Kap-soo shared his thoughts on the conclusion of the tvN drama "Pro Bono." Kim Kap-soo played the role of Oh Kyu-jang, the founder of the country's largest law firm, O&Partners, in the drama that ended on January 11. Through his agency F&F Entertainment, he said, "'Pro Bono' ending already feels unreal. Although I joined from the middle of the drama, I was happy throughout the filming because I could complete a wonderful work with great actors and staff." He also added, "I sincerely thank all the viewers who loved 'Pro Bono' until the end. As much as you showed interest and support, I will continue to show you a good side in the future. I wish you a happy new year in 2026."

Kim Kap-soo demonstrated a strong presence through his role as Oh Kyu-jang. Especially in the final episode of the drama, the true nature of Oh Kyu-jang, known as the "living legend of the legal world," was revealed. A recorded transcript containing evidence of Oh Kyu-jang's involvement in the trial that convicted Chairman Jang Hyun-bae (Song Young-chang) was disclosed. In the recording, Oh Kyu-jang directly contacted Shin Joong-seok (Lee Moon-sik) to check the progress of the trial and pressured him with remarks expressing concern about Jang Hyun-bae's detention. These actions exposed his true face as someone who wielded power outside the courtroom and even manipulated judicial personnel, shocking the viewers.

In the finale, Oh Kyu-jang denied the allegations of interfering with the trial and referred to himself not as a lobbyist but as a "mediator." He claimed, "Someone has to play a role behind the scenes, getting their hands dirty," justifying his actions as choices made for the national interest. He then offered Kang Da-wit (Jung Kyung-ho) a position as a Supreme Court justice. However, this offer backfired. With the conversations between Kang Da-wit and Oh Kyu-jang during the trial and the contract signed with Jang Hyun-bae revealed, Oh Kyu-jang was forced to step down from O&Partners, which he had built.

Kim Kap-soo led the drama as the core villain holding immense power in "Pro Bono." He vividly portrayed the pragmatic side of a powerful figure and the process of his downfall, reaffirming his reputation as a "reliable actor." The drama concluded leaving a strong impression on viewers.

"Pro Bono" is a work that deals with the complex power structure of the legal world and human nature, and Kim Kap-soo's acting heightened the tension of the story. Through the character Oh Kyu-jang, he realistically expressed the dark side of power and its consequences, leaving a deep impression on the audience. With the drama's conclusion, interest in Kim Kap-soo's future activities is also increasing.
