Broadcaster Ahn Sun-young is shown spending time with her mother, who is battling dementia. On the January 12th broadcast of TV Chosun's "Joseon's Lover," a scene is revealed where Ahn Sun-young takes her mother to a restaurant. In a preview video, Ahn Sun-young asks her mother, "Do you remember appearing on TV before?" as they reminisce about past memories.
Watching this scene through the VCR, Hwang Bo-ra recalled, "(During the broadcast) when sharing stories, Ahn Sun-young always related them to her mother. Her mother used to speak in a strong dialect," reflecting on the moment.
Ahn Sun-young played past broadcast footage showing her mother in healthier times. Her mother, looking at the screen, responded with unfamiliarity, saying, "Only people who speak well appear on TV. Isn't that my aunt in the video?" In this scene, Ahn Sun-young watched her mother with a calm smile.
In an interview with the production team, Ahn Sun-young confessed, "I deeply regretted taking my mother on the broadcast in the past. Because I kept asking about her illness, she disliked it for the past seven years." However, she shared a changed perspective, saying, "Looking back, it was truly a blessing to appear on the broadcast with my mother. Every time we watch the footage, my mother is amazed."
Finally, Ahn Sun-young candidly said, "Although the thread of her memory is gradually thinning, as long as this memory remains, doesn't it make my mother happy?"
This broadcast will reveal for the first time the touching daily life of Ahn Sun-young and her mother as they battle dementia. "Joseon's Lover" airs on January 12th at 10 PM.
