Kim Yeon-ja, a singer affiliated with Choi Lab, appeared on the YouTube channel 'MUPLY Mupli' in the segment 'How to Use the Modern World,' emphasizing the importance of stage costumes and showcasing chemistry that transcends generations between seniors and juniors.
In the episode released on the 24th, Kim Yeon-ja appeared as 'Today's Student' in the 'Stage Costumes' segment alongside MC Aillit (ILLIT) Yoon-ah. She revealed, "I've invested all the money I earned into costumes, so I'm famous for trot costumes," and added, "Idol costumes are a world I'm not familiar with, so I came to learn about them."
During the broadcast, Kim Yeon-ja studied in depth the evolution of stage costumes and even recent fashion buzzwords. When Yoon-ah explained the term 'Not pretending' (effortless style), Kim Yeon-ja confidently responded, "Isn't that a word that's been around for a long time?" To which Yoon-ah replied, "There's nothing more to explain. Starting next week, we'll be visiting you with Senior Kim Yeon-ja's 'Modern World Usage.'"
During the practical session, they analyzed each other's stage costumes. Pointing to her own flashy coat-style stage costume, Kim Yeon-ja explained, "On days when I perform 'Amor Fati,' I must wear a coat-style stage costume to be able to spin." She added, "Each bead is handmade, so it costs several million won," surprising Yoon-ah.
Kim Yeon-ja shared that she first performed on a university festival stage through 'Amor Fati.' She recalled, "Honestly, I was nervous, but the students welcomed me with warm cheers," and added, "I think I got addicted to that reaction. I hoped to receive that kind of response even when performing for the elderly."
She also revealed that a monument for the song 'Amor Fati' was erected in her hometown, Gwangju Metropolitan City. She said, "'Amor Fati' performances are about telling our lives without worrying about emotions, so I sing it comfortably," and added, "It will move people of all generations."
Finally, Kim Yeon-ja dressed Yoon-ah in her stage costume and taught her the 'Yeon-ja Turn.' She explained, "Grab the collar and spin. The key is stepping to the rhythm," concluding the lesson with the 'Amor Fati' couple dance.
Kim Yeon-ja is currently active as a master on TV CHOSUN's 'Miss Trot 4' and continues to be active in domestic and international broadcasts, performances, and public service campaign stages.
