Hong Ji-yoon, a singer affiliated with Choi Lab, took first place in the first round of the finals on MBN's "Active King of Singers 3," advancing to the second round of the finals.
On the broadcast of the first round of the finals of "Active King of Singers 3" on the 3rd, Hong Ji-yoon performed "At Least One Outfit Was Saved," composed by Im Kang-hyun. This song is a new-age trot genre reinterpretation of Jongmyo Jeryeak, a ritual music praying for longevity in the sky, conveying comfort for the twilight of life. Hong Ji-yoon revealed that although she majored in traditional Korean music, this was her first attempt at the Jeongga genre.
On stage, Hong Ji-yoon created a dreamy atmosphere with her clear and pure voice. She showcased her vocal skills by bursting with emotion in the latter part, enhancing the stage's completeness with fingertip gestures and wistful eyes. The celebrity judging panel commented, "Hong Ji-yoon did it again."
Hong Ji-yoon stated that she studied Jeongga in just one week, and Joo Hyun-mi said, "I was completely captivated by the silky delicacy." Composer Im Kang-hyun said, "While studying traditional Korean music, I wanted to make Jeongga into modern popular music, and I recently finished the work. I am grateful that Hong Ji-yoon passionately sang it."
That day, Hong Ji-yoon received 853 points out of a total of 870 points from the celebrity and composer scores, and with an additional 187 points from the national judging panel, she achieved a total of 1,040 points, taking first place. She also confirmed overwhelming popularity by maintaining first place for seven consecutive weeks in the previously released 9th week of the national support vote.
