BTS, 'Arirang' ranks number one on the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks... A new record for K-pop

BTS's fifth studio album 'Arirang' has topped the US Billboard main album chart, the 'Billboard 200,' for three consecutive weeks.

On the 12th (local time), the US music media Billboard announced on its official website that 'Arirang' ranked number one on the April 18 chart. With this, BTS set a record as the first K-pop album to hold the top spot on the 'Billboard 200' for three consecutive weeks.

This week, 'Arirang' recorded a total of 124,000 album units. Of these, pure album sales accounted for 71,000 copies, SEA units (streaming equivalent albums) were 50,000, and TEA units (track equivalent albums) were 3,000.

BTS also set a record as the first Korean artist to top the 'Billboard 200' for two consecutive weeks last week. This three-week consecutive number one is the first since Mumford & Sons' 'Babel' held the top spot for five weeks (non-consecutive) in 2012–2013. It is also the first album to top the chart for three consecutive weeks since Taylor Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl,' released last October.

Since its release on the 20th of last month, 'Arirang' has continued to perform well on music charts worldwide. BTS began their world tour with concerts held at Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium on the 9th and 11th–12th.
