Yoon Kyung-ho, at the press conference for 'Becoming a Legend of the Cook,' "Thankful for fans' interest... Worried the role's image might become too strong"

The production presentation for the TVING original series "Becoming a Legendary Cook" was held on the 6th at the Pullman Ambassador Seoul in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Director Jo Nam-hyung and actors Park Ji-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Han Dong-hee, Lee Hong-nae, and Lee Sang-i attended the event.
In this work, Yoon Kyung-ho plays the role of Administrative Supply Officer Park Jae-young. He shared that he has been feeling the popularity since appearing on the web variety show "Excuse Me." Yoon Kyung-ho said, "I feel a lot of love. I am grateful to 'Excuse Me.' Thank you for saying that my popularity is comparable to Park Ji-hoon's." He also expressed some concern about his image strongly influencing his role but emphasized his gratitude. Additionally, he added, "I don't think this love will last forever. As time passes and attention shifts to others, it will naturally decrease."
Park Ji-hoon plays Private Kang Sung-jae, who causes changes in the unit's meal menu after being assigned to the Ganglim Outpost. He revealed his romanticized view of the Marine Reconnaissance Unit, saying, "I have had a romanticized view of the Marine Reconnaissance Unit since my twenties. It was the military unit I really wanted to join. That feeling hasn't changed." He also emphasized, "I had thoughts about wanting to go to a tough and demanding place, but I never thought I would become a cook. Regardless of the work, I originally wanted to join the Marine Reconnaissance Unit."
Lee Hong-nae plays Senior Cook Sergeant Yoon Dong-hyun. He said, "Since 'Romantic Doctor Kim Sa-bu 3,' I have been steadily filming projects, but the release was delayed, so this is my first time greeting you with a long-term project in a while." He mentioned his chemistry with Park Ji-hoon and communication with the director on set. "I received a lot of help from the director, and we constantly communicated on set, asking, 'How about this? Show me,' to create the acting. I also learned a lot and built chemistry with actor Park Ji-hoon. I received a lot of help through this project, and I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude."
Director Jo Nam-hyung explained the background of casting Park Ji-hoon: "I got to know Park Ji-hoon by watching 'Weak Hero.' He had very sharp eyes. The character Sung-jae is initially unfamiliar, awkward, and clumsy, but he has clear determination and a sense of purpose. I thought he was the actor who could best express those traits, so I cast him."
Regarding the chemistry with the actors in the project, Yoon Kyung-ho said, "Our drama has various elements. There are fantasy elements, and the director skillfully differentiated between the realistic tone and the fantasy tone. Since it is set in the military, many actors play soldier roles, and the director carefully cast them. Everyone worked passionately, which was a great help. Many actors have actually completed military service, so their background knowledge greatly helped the acting chemistry."
Park Ji-hoon expressed his thoughts, saying, "I am very grateful. As senior Yoon Kyung-ho said, I don't think one can always be loved. My goal is to do my best in every given moment. That is how I live. I believe doing my best in the given tasks is my duty." When asked if members of Wanna One who have completed military service helped during filming, he replied, "We don't talk about the project when we meet. I don't think I asked them separately before filming."
"Becoming a Legendary Cook" is a military cooking fantasy drama depicting the growth of Private Kang Sung-jae, who wields a kitchen knife instead of a gun and wears an apron instead of a bullet belt, into a "legendary cook." It will be simultaneously released on TVING and tvN at 8:50 PM on the 11th.
