In episode 11 of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama ’21st Century Great Lady,’ Prince Ian (played by Byun Woo-seok) faces a crisis due to a fire accident at the side hall but narrowly escapes with his life. With the help of Seong Hee-joo (IU) and Choi Hyun (played by Yoo Soo-bin), Prince Ian manages to escape the flames.

After the fire, Seong Hee-joo launched an investigation into the cause. She attempted to review a month’s worth of CCTV footage from the side hall and, upon hearing that it was under the jurisdiction of the inner court, directly approached Queen Dowager Yoon I-rang (played by Gong Seung-yeon) to request the data. Seong Hee-joo pressured Yoon I-rang, saying, ″If you don’t want to be suspected, let me see all the work records of the palace staff.″ She also refused to drink the tea Yoon I-rang offered, saying, ″I’m now afraid to drink anything.″

Meanwhile, Yoon I-rang questioned the cause of the side hall fire during a conversation with her father, Yoon Sung-won. Yoon Sung-won advised stopping Prince Ian’s official duties for safety reasons, and Yoon I-rang responded, ″How do you know facts that haven’t even been revealed in the news?″

Later, Yoon I-rang, seemingly determined, went to Prince Ian, knelt before him, and confessed, ″My father is trying to kill you. Here is the evidence regarding the incident at the wedding ceremony. I also have the child who worked at the prince’s residence with me. I promised to get their testimony.″ She revealed that Yoon Sung-won was behind the side hall fire. Prince Ian asked, ″Why are you telling me this? Are you begging me to forgive the Duke?″ Yoon I-rang replied, ″Punish me and my father.″

Prince Ian asked, ″If I say I will punish you, do you have the courage to face it? Is it because I am the heir apparent? Why are you afraid of me only now?″ Yoon I-rang said, ″I have a duty to protect the royal family. That’s why I’m protecting you. So that my father, my greed, can no longer harm you or this royal family. Please, protect His Majesty.″ Prince Ian said, ″The higher the honor, the greater the disgrace. You will remain an eternal sinner in both the royal family and history. Is it enough if only His Majesty is protected?″ Yoon I-rang answered, ″It is enough.″

Subsequently, Yoon Sung-won was arrested, and it was revealed that Min Jung-woo (played by Noh Sang-hyun) had known about Yoon Sung-won’s crimes but concealed them. Min Jung-woo also clashed with Prince Ian and Seong Hee-joo. At the end of the broadcast, a scene was shown of Prince Ian ascending the throne.
