Lee Hye-young revealed her six-year battle with lung cancer.

Lee Hye-young launched her YouTube channel ’Hyeyeong is unstoppable’ on the 11th and shared her cancer diagnosis and treatment experience in her first video. She disclosed that she was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer in 2021 and underwent surgery. She explained that she received the cancer diagnosis at the hospital on her 10th wedding anniversary. Lee said she had pneumothorax since childhood, and while monitoring it, the size increased, leading to the cancer diagnosis. She was advised to have surgery and underwent a resection, but mentioned that if she could go back, she might have chosen drug chemotherapy instead. She revealed that the surgery was difficult, especially the part where her ribs were cut to remove the lung.

During her treatment, she found it difficult to go outside due to COVID-19 and spent painful times at home. Lee added that she also suffered from cervical and lumbar disc symptoms. After surgery, she returned to broadcasting as the MC of MBN’s ’Dolsingles.’ She explained that she filmed once every two weeks for 7 to 8 hours and then took two weeks to recover, continuing this routine through season 7. She said her body swelled and she developed lymphatic problems during this process.

She also mentioned her family history. Her father passed away from stomach cancer when she got married, and her mother was diagnosed with stage 3 stomach cancer but is currently receiving good treatment. Lee Hye-young said she is about to have her final follow-up examination and expects to hear the words, ″You are now free,″ in August.
