Lee Soo-geun appeared on KBS 1TV’s ″Morning Yard″ and revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his romance and marriage with his wife Park Ji-yeon, who is 12 years younger.

Lee Soo-geun stated that he first met his current wife during the peak of his career with the ″High Note Impossible″ segment on KBS 2TV’s ″Gag Concert.″ At that time, Park Ji-yeon was a 21-year-old college student who came to experience being a stylist. He explained that his comedian colleagues were popular because they showed movies and bought meals. Lee Soo-geun said he was busy with ″High Note Impossible″ activities and got to know Park Ji-yeon later.

Lee Soo-geun said he was the one who proposed first and chased her for six months. He said, ″Once things went well, I was confident and proposed. I chased her for six months, but she said, ’You’re not the one,’ yet she eventually became my wife.″ He also recalled, ″She said she didn’t want me as a boyfriend, so I felt sorry and angry. I went to a beer house in her neighborhood to apologize one last time, and tears unexpectedly fell. She said she felt my sincerity when she saw that.″

The two have a 12-year age difference, and Lee Soo-geun mentioned, ″Nowadays, people don’t say much about the age gap, but back then, a big age difference was socially frowned upon.″

Lee Soo-geun revealed that after marriage, he handed over all financial control to his wife. He said, ″I handed everything over, so I don’t know how much money there is. If I need something, I ask, ’Can you send me some money?’ The house is jointly owned.″ Regarding why he gave up financial control, he explained, ″When my wife was pregnant, she was very young and might have been bored at home, so I wanted to give her the joy of saving money. Isn’t it happy to see money accumulate little by little in the bank account?″

Lee Soo-geun said he and Park Ji-yeon have two sons.
