"Brave New World" sets a new personal best viewership rating of 12.8%... RIIZEs to 2nd place in Netflix Top 10

SBS Friday-Saturday drama ″Brilliant New World″ recorded its highest ratings two episodes before its finale. According to Nielsen Korea, episode 12, which aired on the 13th, recorded 10.5% nationwide and 11.0% in the metropolitan area, with a peak rating of 12.8% per minute. This figure ranks first not only among Saturday mini-series but also among all weekly mini-series.
″Brilliant New World,″ which started with a 4.1% rating at its premiere, entered double-digit ratings at episode 6 with 10.3%, maintained ratings in the 9% range thereafter, and reached a new high at episode 12. It is also analyzed that the shift in viewers after the end of MBC’s competing show ″21st Century Great Madam″ in the same time slot last month contributed to this. The series also showed competitiveness on OTT platforms, ranking second in Netflix Korea’s top 10 series category as of the 14th.
In episode 12, there was a change in the relationship between Shin Seori and Cha Segye. Cha Segye sincerely told Shin Seori, ″I thought I had to hold on to money, honor, status—anything that everyone chases to live a little. But now I know what’s important. Just having you is enough,″ and the two confirmed their feelings for each other. However, the atmosphere changed when it was revealed that Shin Seori was destined to return to Joseon. Shin Seori said, ″I have to go back. To where I was,″ and Cha Segye responded, ″No, you can’t go. I won’t let you go, just so you know.″ Shin Seori expressed her feelings, saying, ″I don’t want to go either. I want to stay by your side.″
The episode also advanced the mystery of the story. Geumbosal realized that the person in the painting was different from the current Shin Seori, and Shin Seori recalled past memories at Oksun’s restaurant, realizing that she was the real Shin Seori. She said, ″I’m not a fake, my name is,″ while struggling with confusion. A scene depicting the clash between the memories of Joseon’s villain Kang Dansim and the current Shin Seori was also portrayed.
Lim Ji-yeon led the drama as Shin Seori, who harbors the soul of Kang Dansim, the villainess of Joseon, and Heo Nam-joon played Cha Segye, the third-generation chaebol. PD Han Tae-seop and PD Kim Hyun-woo directed the series, and writer Kang Hyun-joo wrote the script. At the production presentation, PD Han Tae-seop said, ″The character Shin Seori itself is both the plot and the genre. Lim Ji-yeon performed at 120%, to the point where you wonder if she could handle the action scenes this well. Lim Ji-yeon is the drama’s competitive edge.″ Lim Ji-yeon stated, ″It feels completely different from previous villain roles. I truly devoted my whole body to filming.″
Episode 13 of ″Brilliant New World″ will air on the 19th at 9:50 PM.
