RM appointed as the first global ambassador of the National Museum of Korea... "Promoting cultural heritage"


RM (Kim Namjoon) has been appointed as the first global ambassador of the National Museum of Korea. On the 20th, the museum announced that RM had been selected as the global ambassador, marking the first time the museum has appointed a global ambassador.
RM will promote the value of Korea’s history and traditional culture both domestically and internationally through various promotional activities. The National Museum of Korea stated that it is significant to be able to share the beauty and value of Korean cultural heritage with the world together with RM. Yoo Hong-jun, director of the National Museum of Korea, said, ″We expect this to be a great force in helping the National Museum of Korea grow into a museum loved and visited by people worldwide.″
RM has shown a deep interest in art and cultural heritage. In 2021 and 2022, he donated 100 million won each year to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation under the Cultural Heritage Administration to support the preservation and restoration of Korean cultural heritage abroad. Known as an art collector, he is scheduled to hold a special exhibition focused on his collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in the United States this October.
At the appointment ceremony held on the 19th, RM toured the ongoing exhibition ″Danwon Kim Hong-do, Painting the Era″ in the calligraphy and painting room of the permanent exhibition hall with Director Yoo Hong-jun. At this event, the museum presented RM with the ″Daedongyeojido Scroll Special Edition,″ a reduced reproduction of the original ″Daedongyeojido″ in the museum’s collection.
RM expressed, ″I am very pleased to join as the global ambassador of the National Museum of Korea,″ adding, ″I will do my best to ensure that the beauty and value of our cultural heritage reach more people.″
