'Toy Story 5' ranks first in the box office during its opening week... 710,000 attendees, surpassing a cumulative total of 870,000

The animated film ″Toy Story 5″ took first place at the box office in its opening week. According to the Korea Film Council’s integrated ticket sales network, ″Toy Story 5″ attracted 287,032 viewers on the 22nd, topping the box office, with a cumulative audience of 872,547. Over the past weekend (19th–21st), 713,071 people watched the film, also ranking first, and on the 21st, it drew 335,742 viewers, maintaining the daily box office number one spot. The release date was the 17th.
″Toy Story 5″ depicts a new adventure of toys who feel neglected as their owner, Bonnie, becomes interested in a new smart tablet called ″Lillipad.″ The story follows toys like Jessie, Woody, and Buzz as they face unprecedented challenges and reunite for an unpredictable journey. This work is the latest installment in the series, released seven years after ″Toy Story 4,″ which attracted 3.4 million viewers domestically.
During the same period, director Yeon Sang-ho’s ″The Night Owl″ ranked second. On the 22nd, 63,123 people watched it, bringing the cumulative audience to 5,527,527. Over the weekend, 188,674 people viewed the film, with 87,590 attending on the 21st. ″The Night Owl″ had maintained the number one spot since its release on May 21 but gave way to ″Toy Story 5″ for the weekend box office top position.
″Wild Thing,″ starring Kang Dong-won and directed by Son Jae-gon, ranked third. On the 22nd, 45,799 people watched it, with a cumulative audience of 1,100,567. Over the weekend, 133,556 people viewed the film, including 62,549 on the 21st.
″Toy Story 5″ also stood out in advance ticket sales. As of 8 a.m. on the 21st, it held a reservation rate of 42.6%, with 143,103 tickets booked, ranking first overall. The upcoming film ″Pupil,″ starring Shin Min-a, ranked second with a reservation rate of 9.1%, and ″The Night Owl″ was third with 7.7%.
