Winwin officially ends exclusive contract with SM and withdraws from NCT debuted in 2016 focuses on activities in China

Winwin, a member of NCT and WayV, has terminated his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment and will be leaving NCT.

On the 8th, SM Entertainment announced through an official statement that Winwin’s exclusive contract is scheduled to end on July 9, 2026. The agency stated, ″Winwin will conclude all NCT activities.″ SM added, ″We are grateful to Winwin, who has been with us for over 10 years since his trainee days, and we support his future as he embarks on a new journey.″

Winwin debuted as an original member of NCT 127 in 2016 and participated in activities from the debut album through the first repackaged full-length album released in November 2018. Afterward, he began to refrain from NCT 127 activities starting late 2018 and debuted in January 2019 with WayV, a group targeting the Chinese market. Recently, from 2024 when WayV’s domestic activities intensified, he did not participate in albums or major activities.

Winwin shifted his activities to China, focusing on local schedules and acting. In 2021, he established a personal agency dedicated to his acting career in China called Gongzuoshi. He has been building his acting career by appearing in various works such as the Chinese drama ″Obu Imun″ and ″Yang Jin Mi Geum,″ released through iQIYI.

Meanwhile, Winwin is the second member to simultaneously end his contract and leave the team after Mark. In April of this year, Mark and Ten ended their exclusive contracts with SM; Mark announced solo activities as co-CEO of Upper Room after leaving NCT, while Ten continues activities with NCT and WayV even after founding Illiment.
