Park Seo-jin visited his house in Samcheonpo but grew anxious when his father did not respond despite ringing the doorbell several times and calling him. Recalling a past incident when his father had collapsed while alone, he hurried inside to check on his father’s condition. During their conversation, he realized that the frequent misunderstandings they had were due to his father’s hearing loss, and together with his family, he took his father to the hospital.

At the hospital, the family heard from a specialist that neglecting hearing loss can increase the risk of developing dementia by up to five times. However, his father refused the examination, saying, ″Let’s go home. Turn the car around!″ and was reluctant to accept the recommendation to wear a hearing aid, saying, ″I’m still young.″ During this process, his father revealed for the first time the condition of his ear health that he had not shared with the family and the reason he recently got rid of the boat he had owned his whole life.
