In episode 5 of SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama ″Chief Kim,″ Chief Kim (played by So Ji-sub) struggles at Myeongpo Port to find his daughter Minji (played by Seo Soo-min). At Myeongpo Port, Chief Kim encounters Park Kang-sung (played by Kim Sung-kyu), and after a fierce confrontation, he discovers that Park Kang-sung is the younger brother of his former colleague ″66″ Park Young-kwang (played by Ok Taec-yeon). It is also revealed that Chief Kim has been living under Park Young-kwang’s codename, following the last request Park Young-kwang left him in the past: ″Don’t die.″

Park Kang-sung accuses Chief Kim of being a ″reactionary of the republic,″ but Chief Kim reveals that the person who sacrificed him and their comrades was Intelligence Bureau’s Lee Eung-ryeong (played by Lee Jae-yong), even after being stabbed. Additionally, Chief Kim delivers Park Young-kwang’s last words on his behalf, saying, ″Survive. No matter what happens, survive.″

Meanwhile, Minji lures Geum Ippal (played by Jo Bok-rae) into a freezer warehouse, attacks him, and successfully escapes. When Chief Kim arrives at the warehouse, he finds only an empty space and a note saying, ″Dad, I’m sorry. I’m scared.″ Minji climbs over the fence and escapes with the help of a vehicle, but inside the car is Hyeri’s father, Joo Kang-chan (played by Joo Sang-wook). Upon hearing about Minji’s escape, Joo Kang-chan threatens her, saying, ″Do you know what a windfall is? An unexpected windfall.″

This episode revealed a scene where Chief Kim searches for Minji in the pouring rain. The production team explained, ″This scene is emotionally intense, showing Chief Kim wandering in the rain with the fear that he might be too late, not knowing whether Minji is alive or dead.″ It was reported that So Ji-sub delivered a performance filled with emotion for his daughter, walking, running, and falling in the rain.

″Chief Kim″ is an action drama about a father seeking revenge to get back his only daughter, achieving a nationwide viewership rating of 21.6% in just four episodes. It is also gaining popularity overseas, ranking first globally in Netflix’s non-English show category. Episode 5 of ″Chief Kim″ aired on the 10th at 9:50 PM.
